About Us

Amy and Logan Blewett were married on May 16, 1998 after meeting at the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana. They moved to Paducah, Kentucky where Logan was working at the time.

Now, Amy teaches violin, piano, viola, and cello out of our home. Amy is a member of Reidland United Methodist where both of us are the Handbell Directors. Amy is also the volunteer Curator of the Paducah Railroad Museum.

Logan currently works as a school bus driver for McCracken County Schools. He continues to work as an Interpreter for the Deaf during church activities and as a volunteer. He is a member of Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He teaches the Adult Sunday School class and fills the pulpit occasionally as a Lay Pastor. He recently received his Certificate in Pastoral Studies from the Louisville Presbyterian Seminary. He serves as the Presbytery Elder Commissioner. Logan accompanies Amy's students and tunes pianos. He is also involved in the community as a ham radio operator and as the Museum Director of the Paducah Railroad Museum. Additionally, he is President of the Paducah Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society.

We also volunteer at the Museum of the American Quilters' Society once a month, as well as the Paducah Railroad Museum.

We enjoy bike riding, swimming, taking walks together, and camping.

It has been a while since we have posted anything on here so, since we have had some news we might as well post something.  Those of you that we are in contact with very closely already know Amy is not in good health.  Her dermatologist feels that she has lupus and dermatomyositis.  Her rheumatologist feels that she just has some sort of cross over auto immune condition.  Regardless of her diagnosis, she is having major difficulty with life's little chores such as dressing, drying herself off, she cannot always get out of bed unassisted, lifting things, has a rash on her right arm and lower back, and can not lift her arms over her head due to pain/weakness.  Needless to say, Logan's duties around the house have greatly increased as well as being a chauffeur as Amy has not driven herself in several weeks.  She also has not lifted her violin since March.

She has been referred to Vanderbilt Neurology Clinic for a work up that is currently scheduled for July 7.  This referral took a month to process by Vandy.  Something Amy's rheumatologist was very frustrated with, let alone the two of us.  Thank goodness for Google Voice as Logan has been on the phone with Vandy for more than an hour over the past month to get this referral scheduled.  We have also requested to be on the waiting list if there is a cancellation between now and then hoping to get in earlier as it took one month just to process her referral.  We really do not want to have to wait yet another month before the appointment.

One thing that we were able to complete today was to acquire a handicapped parking placard for Amy.  Walking long distances and trying to keep up with Logan while at Kroger or Walmart is very challenging for her.  Logan keeps telling Amy to use a motorized cart while they shop, but Amy is uneasy about using one of those.  The upcoming Ferguson Family Reunion in Branson, MO will be a big challenge for her, but a very welcome vacation for Logan.

Logan has been working ever since McCracken County Schools dismissed for the summer on May 26 (The last day for students was May 25.)  Between May 26 and last Friday he spent studying for a test.  He drove to Danville, KY to the Kentucky School for the Deaf to take the EIPA Performance Test in hopes of updating some of his credentials as an interpreter.  (He should have his results in 6-8 months.)  He returned later that afternoon.  This made for a very long day as he was on the road for 8 hours for a 2 hour test.  This past week he attended a workshop locally to get the rest of his professional development in for the year.  His last "work" commitment will be this Sunday at Amy's church as the Owelulia Chimers, one of the two groups he directs, are performing during worship.  The next week the only commitments Logan has are some local doctor appointments and the monthly meeting of the Paducah Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society.  It should be a very "light" week for Logan.

Well, I guess that is about all this side.  We hope all is well wherever you are.

  1. Oh gracious! That is not all good news, but I am very glad she's going to a specialist doc -those are usually the ones who get things done.

And congrats, Logan, on your test, very cool, let us know how it all turns out. :)

    Love to you both!
